The Gateway Award is an accessible awards programme, similar in structure to the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It has been specifically designed for people with a learning disability and enables people of all abilities to set and reach goals in their lives.
Participants can come to one or two sessions to complete modules which lead to an award. The 5 Gateway Modules are:
Hobbies – This module involves participation in activities such as art and craft, cookery and other leisure activities.
Fitness – This module involves activities such as gym, tennis, golf, multisport and Tai Chi.
Lifestyle – This module involves activities such as gardening, healthy eating courses and money skills.
Volunteering – This module involves contributing to your community.
Challenge – Everybody completes a Gateway Challenge as part of their Award. This year participants have completed challenges such as sponsored walks and sponsored swims.
